April 6 - 12 is National Library Week!
National Library Week was first established in 1957 by the nonprofit National Book Committee to encourage public support and use of libraries. Now sponsored by the American Library Association, they state that National Library Week is an “annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities.”
For students without anything to do this upcoming spring break, Hamilton East Public Library (HEPL) has something planned. Spring break and National Library Week coincide this year. To celebrate, both locations, Fishers and Noblesville, are hosting a weeklong scavenger hunt open to people of all ages. Teens are encouraged to participate!
Starting Apr. 6, gems will be hidden throughout both libraries. Participants can start their scavenger hunt journey at the main lobby, where they will pick up a guide. Then, they will be able to explore the library in search of the gems. While the scavenger hunt itself is an exciting adventure that provides participants with a better idea of everything the library has to offer, prizes are also available to those who complete the scavenger hunt.
“Choose from a variety of HEPL-branded items, such as notebooks for the writer, sunglasses for those looking forward to warmer months or reading lights for the late-night bookworms,” the HEPL website states. “Or, take a look at our selection of coupons and promotions from local restaurants and shops. Businesses like Lincoln Square Pancake House, Rush Bowl and Nothing Bundt Cakes have donated to our prize pool, along with many others.”
HEPL encourages students wanting to participate to keep an eye on their social media for more information and sneak peeks.
