From winning regionals, to being runner up at HCCA, and now going to nationals in Orlando, sophomore Clare Emery, a proud member of the HSE cheerleading team tells her perspective of the season. With every season comes a new team so Emery knows nationals is her last time on the mat with this very special team.
“It’s been so exciting but also has been hard,” said Emery. “Remembering I won’t be able to perform this routine again with this very special team”
Although saying goodbye to this team is tough, Emery is looking ahead with anticipation. The bonds formed this season will always hold a special place in her heart, but she knows that with next season around the corner comes new opportunities and bonds. While many fans believe cheer is an induvial sport, they miss the crucial bond and family this team has formed over this season.
“Everyone is there for one another not just themselves,” said Emery “When we fall, we fall together, but when we rise, we rise not as 30 individual athletes, but as 1 team”
This season, the HSE cheerleading team has showed that they are more than just athletes, but that they are a family. As they prepare to take the stage in Orlando, Emery and her teammates are ready to show the unique bond they have formed throughout the season on the mat one last time.
“It’s such a loving family and being with my girls is an honor and experience I will truly never forget,” said Emery.
