Sophia Hobbs, a senior lady royal tennis player, who is ready to take on the final highschool season of the sport of her life. Being on the team has taught her lessons that she will value forever. Hobbs says, “the biggest lesson I have learned from my career is that hard work pays off, even when things don’t go my way, I have to continue to work through adversity to grow as an athlete and as a person.” Along the way she has picked up many strengths such as in being “hardworking and mentally tough” which has helped her to grow as an athlete and improve her game. The skills she has developed are going to benefit her in the future and make her a stronger individual overall.
When someone has a positive role model in their life, they are likely to engage in constructive actions and become more like the person they look up to. In Sophias’ life her role model is her dad. Her dad has taught her to “never give up even when the cards are against me.” Her father battled and defeated cancer, he continued to never give up and keep his spirits high. “He has taught me that there is nothing that I can’t get through and he will always be there for me no matter what.” Infact, Sophia is not ready to give up yet. After high school, she plans to go to Indiana University, where she will play tennis and study neuroscience on a pre-med track. Sophias advice that she gives to the younger athletes following up in her steps is to “get involved with the team and show up as much as you can, the girls and coaches are amazing, and you will have so much fun making amazing memories.”
Make sure to follow Sophia Hobbs and your lady royal tennis players throughout this upcoming season and remember to never give up.
