Junior defensive back, Mason Alexander, began his junior football season with two interceptions resulting in touchdowns and 123 rushing yards and 7 tackles at his first Friday Night Lights performance of the season. Alexander started the season with a 28-14 team win against the Fort Wayne Carroll Chargers of Northern Indiana. The game was seen as vengeance to the same Chargers team that kept Mason and his fellow Hamilton Southeastern Royals teammates out of the 2022 Indiana State Championship game.
“When we played Carroll, I felt amazing running out of the Royal tunnel and onto the field,” Alexander explained. “I was completely locked in. I could feel our team’s chemistry and love for the game. Beating the team who kept us from a state championship opportunity just tied the knot.”
Mason started playing football at the age of six years old and since has become a dominant force on the field. He is inspired most by his dad, who had been there to teach him from the start.
“My dad inspired me to play football, being a three-sport athlete as a kid, he finally won me over,” Alexander said. “Scoring touchdowns was the only thing I wanted to do.”
As he grew older, his love for the game got bigger though the process was not always easy. Mason was faced with challenges, the urge to give up and stop working, the urge to be a kid and play around, but Mason had dreams to fulfill.
“Challenges I faced as an athlete is knowing how to keep pushing even when I’m tired,” Alexander explained. “I overcame it by going into the zone and didn’t think about anything.”
Mason has done just that, becoming one of the best defensive backs in the state, as well as earning himself a three-star rating from 24/7 Sports. Mason has gone through the recruitment process, earning himself offers from schools like Florida, Cincinnati, and Wisconsin.
“Going through the recruitment process is an amazing experience” Alexander said “I’ve learned and grown from the experience. I am grateful to be able to talk to all these college coaches and get the chances to play at the next level.”
Alexanders leadership on the field is a key reason why the Royals have been so successful. Mason developed into a leader over summer and has been a key leader for the Royals. Doing so, Mason has made an impact for his Royals and has earned the respect from everyone.
“Mason has made a huge impact on our team not just from a skill wise” teammate Kameron Anthony explained. “But also, from a leadership standpoint knowing when to pick everyone up.”
Mason a top player in the class of 2025. Putting his name out to colleges he has earned himself recognition. Though he isn’t far from done, now mason follows his dreams. The dreams of being a top athlete around the football world.
“My dream for football is to make it to the Top” Alexander explains “I want to go to the league, but I want to be number one while doing it.”
Alexander proves his worth every game, by helping guide the Royals towards success. Mason will continue to earn college coaches offers and will grow more and more. The hard work and dedication that is put in when no one is watching is what separates Mason from any other player. In Alexanders final two seasons as a Royal, he will continue to lead, and guide the Royals to success all while living the dreams of any little kid. Alexanders talent is special, and the Royals are blessed to have a player like Mason Alexander.
