Scott Beesley started working at Hamilton Southeastern High School in 2012 and became the head coach of the boy’s lacrosse team in the 2013-14 season after being an assistant coach at Noblesville High School.

Beesley has led HSE to the state title game three seasons in a row, winning the championship in 2018, getting the runner-up award in 2019, and winning it again in 2021.

HSE has won the Hoosier Crossroads Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) three times in 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2021 and made it to the Final Four in the state five times in 2016, 2017, 2018,  2019, and 2021 under Beesley’s helm.

Beesley has also won the HCLC Coach of the Year twice, in 2016 and 2021.

He was also able to promote HSE lacrosse from a club sport to a school-sponsored varsity sport in the 2016-17 season, which also happened to be the first year they made it to the Final Four.

Beesley has coached many athletes that have gone on to play college lacrosse, including 2017 graduate and All-American Max Brooks, 2017 All-American and 2018 state champion Keegan Logan, Ryan Kemp 2021 State Champion and All American, and Ty DeSplinter 2021 State Champion and All American.

The long-tenured coach is a part of the Intercollegiate Mens Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA). Over the past five years, Beesley and his staff have attended an IMLCA-sponsored event in Baltimore that lasts four days, where they meet with premier college lacrosse coaches in order to better the HSE program. Beesley says that they use the event for their “coaching professional development”, as they learn from the best DI, DII, DIII, and high school minds in lacrosse.

Additionally, Beesley and several of his assistant coaches hold a Level One and Level Two U.S. Lacrosse certification.

Beesley strongly believes in maintaining a balanced culture within his team, holding his freshmen and his seniors to the same goals, but by also placing “a big emphasis on captains.” He believes that the captains should lead by example and that being a captain in the HSE lacrosse program is “a big honor.”

The lacrosse head coach values spending time with his players and helping to develop his young students mentally. Beesley believes that it is more important to develop his players into “successful husbands and fathers” than it is to develop them into lacrosse players.

Beesley grew up playing soccer, lacrosse, and track. Besides lacrosse, he has also coached youth soccer and swimming.

The Ball State graduate wanted to become a coach because of his family’s history with education. Beesley’s mother just retired after teaching college education for 33 years.
