Harry Styles’ Debut Album
One Direction member, Harry Styles, is set to release his debut album on May 12. After the massive success of his single Sign of the Times, and the viral success of Ever Since New York since its debut on Saturday Night Live, Styles’ album is predicted to do well in sales. Sign of the Times jumped to the first place spot for Billboard following its release, Styles can hope that his album will jump into the same spot following its release. What can fans, (or people curious about the album), expect? Styles has described the album as being different than One Direction songs in the past, taking influence from artists such as David Bowie and Fleetwood Mac as well as others.
“His voice sounds warm, burnished and intimate, not unlike early Rod Stewart,” Rolling Stone journalist Cameron Crowe said. “The album is a distinct departure from the dance-pop that permeate the airwaves.”
With those differences, Styles is set to create an album that fits the style he wants, rather than the mold he felt he was in while working with One Direction. ”
I wanted to write my stories, things that happened to me,” Styles said. “The number one thing I wanted to do was be honest. I hadn’t done that before.”
