On Feb. 17, a woman and her son were killed by her uncle in Zionsville. The suspect’s, Lucius Hamilton III, motive behind the murders were over a multi-million dollar trust fund.
The woman, Katherine Giehll, and her son, Raymond Giehll IV, were found by her husband after he tried multiple times to contact her, but received no answer. Before husband Raymond Giehll III was able to come home, home security footage set up in the garage revealed Hamilton at Giehll’s home.
Once it was clear Hamilton killed Giehll and her son, a chase to find him was on. Police investigated Wabash College, where Hamilton was a fundraiser. After, he was found at a Hilton hotel in Indianapolis. When found by officers, he had committed suicide .
Officials believe the motive behind these murders was purely for financial gain. Hamilton and Katherine Giehll descend from a family of wealthy bankers, leaving behind a multi-million dollar trust for both beneficiaries to inherit.
Katherine Giehll, 31, died from three gunshot wounds next to the front door of her Zionsville home. Her son, 4, was found next to the television, killed by a single gunshot.
