From Monday, Oct. 27 through Friday, Oct. 31, Film Production Club held auditions for the cast of this year’s film. Students who auditioned read from part of the film’s script while co-directors Nick Kinder and Bryce Reif, producer Taylor Agraviador, writer Marie Drascic, and advisor Jamie Follis observed.
Senior Grant Woods, who auditioned on Thursday, Oct. 30 and has yet to see whether he made the cast, believes he performed well.
“I hadn’t really thought about auditioning, but [Kinder] convinced me to,” Woods said. “I didn’t really care before I auditioned, but I’d actually be really psyched to make [the cast]. I think it’d be really cool.”
In AP Literature class last year, Woods worked with current directors Kinder and Reif to create a film trailer for the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, an assignment he cites as one of his favorites in recent years.
“If this is anything like Huck Finn—which I know it would be, because [Kinder] and [Reif] are the directors—I think it would be really fun,” Woods said. “Besides Huck Finn, I’ve never acted in my life, but that was probably the best assignment I had in all of high school. I kind of regret not [taking up] acting.”
Woods may have a chance to turn this around if he makes the film cast. Students who auditioned will find out on Tuesday, Nov. 4 whether they will be acting in this year’s film.
