On Thursday, Oct. 16, the zoology classes took a field trip to the Indianapolis Zoo. Their goal was to learn about conserving animals and their habitats, and to meet with zookeepers to ask questions about animal care and the environment. The students discussed their trip in class on Friday, Oct. 17.

Zoology student and sophomore Isabella Hodapp was anticipating this famed field trip since she signed up for the class.

“I was really excited,” Hodapp said. “Our teacher kept talking about the exclusive tours and conversations with the trainers [that students] had last year, and we were all looking forward to it.”

Though this day at the zoo is supposed to be fun for students, it is also expected to be educational.

“My favorite part was definitely the orangutans,” Hodapp said. “We got to see a demo with them on the screens [in the new orangutan exhibit]. It was really fun.”
