This week, the 23 seniors of the Engineering Design and Development (EDD) class are finalizing their robot for the BEST Robotics sectional competition on Friday, Oct. 17 in Nashville, Tenn. In addition to building a robot from specified materials, the class must program its robot to complete certain tasks.
“It has to build windmills, move animals, [and] cross bridges. We have the program done but we’re still building the robot,” senior and EDD member Kendall Mason said.
If their robot functions as it should, EDD students hope to continue on to nationals in Alabama. Although Mason mentions that this has been an extremely challenging project, he enjoys what he is doing.
“My favorite part is the freedom to build and design how we want. I’m also really looking forward to when it’s over,” he said.
