Halfway through the 2024 season the Hamilton Southeastern Royals Boys Track and Field team, is slowly climbing the rankings for a state title. After the indoor season the Royals are ranked 5th in the State after not even being named in the Runnings to begin the season.
After a strong indoor start the Royals flew up the rankings putting their name on the map. The team realized the potential of a state championship and began to get to work. The Royals are filled with deep talent. From the one-hundred-meter dash, all the way to the thirty-two-hundred-meter race.
The Royals Varsity team have run in 4 meets and continue to prove their point of a state championship. The royals are filled with depth in every event, and everyone continues to improve.
Through the season Personal Records continue to be broken. On Tuesday, April 16th, Junior Cristian Ortiz set himself a new Personal Record in the Four-hundred-meter dash in a meet against Zionsville with a time of 48.9.
On Friday, April 19, the Royals Dennis McNulty Invitational. Junior Mason Alexander set a personal record in the two-hundred-meter dash with a time of 21.9 seconds. Also at that meet, the boys 4 by 4-hundred-meter relay team, consisting of Seniors Hunter Hoeft and Michael Griffith Sophomore Jaxson Wanza, and Christian Ortiz ran a 3:17.25. giving themselves the fastest time in the state.
On Saturday, April 13th, At the Ben Davis Relays, Michael Griffith jumped a 23 feet .5 inches. As well as Junior Dylan James jumped 23 feet. To give the Royals Long Jump squad a total jump of 46 feet .5 inches.
The Royals next Track meet is the Mudsock meet (Hamilton Southeastern vs Fishers) Friday April 26th, starting at 6pm. Come see the Royals as the continue to mark themselves a contender for the Boys State Championship Title.
